The Cowboy Castle sits above Panchgani at roughly 1,300 metres, on the edge of the Western Ghats, looking straight out over the Krishna Valley. The terrace, the one you have probably seen in a dozen reels, faces a view that runs from the valley floor all the way to the Wai ghats. On a clear morning, there is nothing between you and the horizon.
What the stay actually is

Why the view is this good
Panchgani sits on a plateau known as Table Land, one of the highest flat surfaces in Asia. The town is ringed by valleys, and the properties on the edge of the plateau look down into them. The Cowboy Castle is positioned on one of those edges, above the Krishna Valley and the Dhom Dam backwaters, which is why the water and the hills line up the way they do in the photographs.
What to know before you book
The road up is steep and narrow, and it gets harder after rain. Phone signal comes and goes. The best months are October to February, when the air is clear and the valley is sharp; the monsoon fills the valley with cloud, which is dramatic but hides the view you came for.
